in Lagos has been in business for 30 years and still going strong using the same successful formula – quality – friendliness – efficient service and good prices, in other words, value for money. This is a charmingly rustic little place worth looking for as the restaurant is off the beaten track. If you are in any doubts, ask along the way, the locals all know Restaurant Escondidinho, (meaning ‘hidden’). The entrance to the property appears a bit dull; however, when you enter the restaurant, you know you are in the right place.
Our visit in May was a great success. We had home-baked bread served with a free starter of sardines and a jar of white wine, followed by chef’s recommendation, monkfish, and prawn kebabs and one dish of grilled garlic prawns to share, all cooked on the charcoal grill. Excellent! Followed by another jar of white wine. We also shared two puddings. Surprise, surprise we were the last guests to leave the restaurant that evening.
Restaurante Escondidinho is a little gem and not to be missed when you visit Lagos.
