The Antiparians were among the first in the Cyclades to take part in the War of Independence and in 1832 officially became part of the Greek state. Antiparos become known to the wider Greek public in 1960 and through the Greek cinema, the movie “Madalena” by helping to enhance its natural beauty and historical landscape and the rest is history they say.
About Pounta Ferry
Antiparos ferry from Parikia (Paros) 35-40 minutes. The easiest and quickest crossing between the two islands is from Pounta (Paros) to Antiparos. Frequent ferry service, crossing time 7-8 minutes.
On arriving at Antiparos you will notice its relaxed atmosphere and also less crowded than Paros. Walking and cycling is an attractive alternative to travel around Antiparos. Antiparos town offers good and varied accommodation, all within walking distance to several beaches, pleasant nightlife.
The area of Saint George is located in the southwest edge of Antiparos island (around 12km from Antiparos town) with a couple of seafront tavernas, seafront taverna Captain Pepinos is one of the 3-4 tavernas in Agios Georgios. Another one, close by is Despotiko taverna and Zombos taverna also rent out rooms.
Self-catering holiday accommodation in villas situated on a slightly elevated position overlooking the sea and other islands. The Despotiko Island is uninhabited where in recent years excavations of great archaeological importance have been taken place. For a visit to Despotiko Island, there are boat transfers available to cross the stretch, ask in the tavernas.

The Municipal Bus departs from the Port of Antiparos, opposite Ayia Marina. It offers the following routes (2017).
Port – CavePort – Beaches: Panayia, Glyfa, Apantima, Soros, Ayios Yeorgios. The route schedule varies, depending on the season of the year. The ticketis priced at around €2.00 (2017) and is purchased on board the bus. There is also a few Taxis available.
Antiparos town beach just to the north of the town you will find a long curving strip of sand, and fringed with Tamarisk trees providing the shade.
Make sure you take something to lie on as there are no beach beds or umbrellas for hire (2016). This beach is perfect for younger children, it’s only about 20-30 cm deep after 30 – 40 meters from the shore. Bars and restaurants are only a short walk away.
Livadia beach its a long wide stretch of white sand located at the northern end of the bay, an easy 10 minutes walk from the Antiparos port. Good service with sunbeds, umbrellas, restaurants and beach bars.
Psaraliki beach five minutes walk south of the Antiparos port, two beaches next to each other, with the second only a couple of minutes further on. Southeast facing and sheltered from the northerly winds and therefore big waves are rarely a problem. Shallow beach so it’s perfect for families with small children. Shade provided under trees however umbrellas and sunbeds are available.
Panagia, Camping Beach, Diplos are other beaches all within a short walking distance from Antiparos town.
Glifa, Apandima along the road to Soros.Soros beach area. its a long stretch of sand, quite coarse sand, the water gets deep quickly, good beach for swimming. Tavernas and self-catering accommodation available.
Agios Georgios (Ayios Yeorgios) Southeastern coast of Antiparos is where you find an area known for its small but beautiful sandy beaches, (two sandy beaches Kako Rema and Vathys Volos beach) self-catering accommodation in villas and apartments.
