I like Donoussa it’s a perfect getaway for people who just want peace and quiet. Good for walks, easily climbed hills are covered by scarce vegetation. You can find clear green-blue water, small coves and fabulous beaches, even the port Stavros has a very nice beach. There is almost no nightlife, but you will enjoy an evening at the taverna. Some tavernas in Stavros offering Greek traditional home cooked food.
A few small villages here with their lovely bright white house’s surrounding the village squares. Stavros is the main village and the important port. The growing number of visitors has slowly been met by adding a few more rooms for rent. There is an ATM machine in the harbor area (Stavros). The pretty church of Timios Stavros (Holy Cross) is worth visiting.
At Mersini village a few tavernas, cafenion. Mersini is a small mountainous village, 6km from Stavros. Kalotaritissa it’s a small seaside village located 12km from Stavros. In the village, there is a taverna which is open all day (during summer).

Kendros a popular sandy beach with crystal clear water located in the south is one of the most beautiful beaches on Donoussa. Snack bar available. Follow the coastal road for about 1 – 1,3km from Stavros. The wreck of a German ship (2,500-ton German cargo ship) that was sunk by the Allies during World War II is visible roughly in the middle of the bay.
Follow the path from Mersini, the wonderful, secluded beaches of Livadi and Fikio within 20 minutes. The beaches are also accessible by a boat that runs regularly.
Boat direct to Trypiti Beach or via Kalotaritissa (have a beach and a taverna) and follow the footpath for 1,2-1,4km to Trypiti beach (no taverna bring your own food and beverage)
