Praia do Amado beach
What a surfer’s paradise! This stretch of water plays regular host to several national and international surfing and boarding events.
We decided to start early in a May morning from Lagos to travel approximately 40 Km along the coast towards one of the top surfing sites in Europe – Praia do Amado beach.
As we went into a low season time there were plenty of parking spaces. However, it could be busy in the height of the summer when beach enthusiasts and surfers head for the Praia do Amado beach. The surf camp was open during our visit and they offer multiple holiday activities including a surf school. There are shops selling beach gear, also food and beverage outlets.
It’s easy to access to the beach. These are stunning beaches with dark coloured cliffs overlooking each side of Praia do Amado. The beach enthusiasts, we are told, head towards the north where there are stones and rocks in different shapes and shades surrounded by soft light coloured sand.
