    Paros Port is connected by local bus to the most popular places around the island, including Naoussa, Alyki, Pounta, Golden Beach. You can use the bus station near the port.

  • Famous Port Windmill

    Allegedly the windmills on Paros is over 200 years old. Farmers use them to grain wheat. The windmill is the first landmark you will see arriving by ferry to Parikia port.

  • Kastro Parikia old town

    Stroll around the old town, check out the old outer walls from the Venetian time, built by the Venetian Duke of Naxos using stones from ancient buildings, most likely from the 5th Century BC

    Most shops are located in Kastro, the old quarter of Parikia. Fashion boutiques, souvenir shops and Jeweller

Parikia, a pleasant town,

with traditional white and blue painted houses, small and narrow streets in the old part, nice town squares, shops, tavernas, bars and restaurants.

Most, if not all, of the ferries dock here, which makes the Parikia harbour busy and creates a lively atmosphere. The tourist industry was developed here in the late 1960’s and today is one of the most visited islands in the Cyclades.

The waterfront is the real centre of activity in Parikia. The beach road running parallel with the seafront from the windmill (ferry port square) to the east is the modern part with hotel and apartments block and further along the Livadia beach. To the west the old part of Parikia town, Between the two into town from the windmill, Ekatontapyliani church.

A visit to the well known Ekatontapyliani church (Panayia Katapoliani) in Paros Town is recommended.

Built in about 4th century AD, on the ruins of ancient temples. The name Ekatontapyliani (Ekaton = One hundred) is associated with a tradition " there are 99 known doors, and the hundredth will be found when Constantinople (the byzantine name for Istanbul) is recuperated ".

Where to stay in Parikia

Argonauta Hotel, 3 star. Total 16 rooms. Good location at the entrance of the traditional Parikia, only 6-7 minutes to the port. Nice bright room, stayed here for some years ago - nice combined lounge and reception area.

Naoussa

From a quiet fishing village located in the north of the Island, today Naoussa is a lively and stylish village-resort, positioned along a lengthy stretch of Plastira Bay, pleasant beaches.

Naoussa town excellent seafront tavernas and restaurants, bars and cafes. Harbour waterfront full of activities with colourful fishing boats, fisherman’s at work maintaining and repair their nets. The old Venetian fort-Kastro ruin was strategically located at the harbour breakwater.

Other Villages, Beaches, walks and Paros Cats

  • Lefkes Village

    Smaller attractive villages like Lefkes the island’s highest village just under 300m above sealevel. Lefkes is situated in the central part of Paros, approximately 11km south east of Parikia.

    Whitewashed houses, narrow streets, (steps), tavernas, boutiques and cafes. Continue, firstly down the hill side and then slightly up towards Agia Triada square. Here the impressive main church Agia Triada made of fine light marble is worth a visit, (nice bar-cafe opposite the church on the square).

    Continue from Lefkes village towards the sea pass the small beautiful village of Prodromos , (worth a visit).

    Further on along the main road Look for the sign to Marpissa one of the most beautiful villages of the Island. Walk into the village from the road entrance into Marpissa.

    There are many great sandy beaches in Paros. The best ones is between Logaras and Alyki (Alki) Beach & Resort. (Pounda Coast - Chrisi Akti - Golden Beach -Paralia Gifa - Tripiti Beach - Piso Aliki)

  • Kolymbithres Beach

    Located on the west side of the bay of Naoussa (Plastira Bay) and is one of the most famous beaches of Paros. Many small sandy beaches - coves hidden between large rocks, that is Kolymbithres.

  • Paros Cats

    You will see many cats on the Greek Islands. Greek culture embraced cats as the free spirits they are, allowing them to roam the streets and lounge near the ancient ruins, quaint tavernas, or basking in the sun on the island beaches.

  • Punta Beach

    Pounta (or Pounda) Beach is the best beach in Paros to kitesurf. Located opposite Antiparos Island..

    Punta is the small ferry port and the beach activities happens to the right side of the port picture.

How to get to Paros

By air

Paros airport(PAS) with flight to-from Athens daily. Flight time approximately 40 minutes.

Aegean Airlines fly direct to Paros from some European cities from middle of May. International flights and Euoropean charter flights use Santorini airport or Mykonos airport between April – October

By sea

Ferry services from Pireus (Athens) during the whole year. During the high season there are good ferry connections with Amorgos, Ios, Donoussa, Koufonissi, Iraklia, Schinoussa, Mykonos, Naxos, Santorini, Syros and Tinos.

Island hoppers

Allow plenty of time for your return flight and always plan and arrange an easily accessible final return port of call. Play safe is the name of the game, allow minimum at least one clear day to spare or more. Ferries can be cancelled due to very strong winds etc.
