Los Hervideros

here the Atlantic ocean roars each time of the surge of waves hits the cliffs of volcanic dark greyish lava. It is the constant surge of the waves, the thunderous sound of the ocean and the spray bursts upwards into the air against the volcanic landscape that makes it worth visiting.

El Golfo and the Green Lagoon

Coast view the Green Lagoon bay

From Los Hervideros on LZ-709, leave the coast for a few minutes and join LZ-703 signposted El Golfo. After approximately 1km approaching El Golfo village the road leads you to a small car park. Walking distance to the village and a short walk around the headland to the Green Lagoon, just follow the signs.

The Green lagoon

El Golfo is a half-submerged cone of a volcano, eroded by the sea over a long time. The half moon shape of the volcano walls exposing a mixture of red, dark grey, brown, coffee colours.

At ground level of the crater wall is the Green Lagoon, (Lago Verde, Charco de los Ciclos) a half-moon-shaped striking green lagoon. Here you can see people searching for Olivinas a strange, semi precious stones, used by local craftsmen to make jewellery.

The dark volcanic sandy Playa de Los Ciclos separate the Green Lagoon from the sea.
